【Summary】

al-Ishārāt wa-l-Tanbīhāt is regarded as one of the final and most mature philosophical works of Ibn Sina, composed as a concise yet comprehensive manual for teaching Islamic philosophy, encompassing logic, natural philosophy, and metaphysics. One of Ibn Sīnā’s major innovations in this work is the integration of mystical foundations, particularly in Patterns (Anmāṭ) VIII to X, which are devoted to felicity, the spiritual stations of the gnostics, and the inner secrets of extraordinary phenomena.
Abū Naṣr Fatḥ b. Mūsā Khaḍrāwī, a prominent poet of his era, undertook the ambitious task of rendering these sections into verse. Fully aware of both the expressive potential and limitations of poetry, he selected Patterns VIII, IX, and X and translated their dense philosophical and mystical content into refined Arabic poetry. The versification remains strictly faithful to Ibn Sīnā’s ideas, avoiding any personal doctrinal interpolation by the poet, to the extent that the work appears as if the Shaykh al-Raʾīs himself had recast his Ishārāt in poetic form.
