【Summary】
Khwājū Kirmānī (Kamal al-Dīn Abū al-ʿAṭāʾ Maḥmūd ibn ʿAlī ibn Maḥmūd), known as the “Nakhband of Poets,” stands among the most influential Persian poets of the 8th century A.H. His poetry shows clear affinities with Saʿdī and Niẓāmī, and his impact on Ḥāfiẓ is widely acknowledged.
Among Khwājū’s prose works are four distinctive treatises—Shamʿ va Shamshīr, Sirājiyyah, Shams va Saḥāb, and Namad va Būriyā. Written in 748 A.H. during his stay in Kirmān, these texts are literary disputations characterized by embellished prose interwoven with verse. In terms of thematic richness and linguistic utility, they occupy a distinguished place among comparable works. This volume presents the first critical edition based on the extant and identifiable manuscripts.
