Sayyid Aḥmad Ḥusaynī Iṣfahānī, known by his pen name Hātif, is regarded as one of the foremost poets of the Persian Bāzgasht-i Adabī (Literary Revival) movement in the twelfth century A.H. His Dīvān comprises a wide range of poetic forms, including qaṣīdas, ghazals, tarjīʿ-bands, short poems, chronograms (mādda-yi tārīkh), and quatrains.
Among Hātif’s works, several ghazals and especially his celebrated tarjīʿ-band stand out for their exceptional beauty. This famous tarjīʿ-band is widely regarded as one of the finest and most renowned examples of the genre in Persian literary history, articulating the theme of the “unity of religions” through a profound mystical and spiritual perspective.
