【Summary】
Imāmī Haravī (d. 686 A.H.) is counted among the distinguished Persian poets of the seventh century A.H. Although he was raised in Herat, he spent much of his life in Kerman, Yazd, and Isfahan, where he served as a panegyrist to rulers and notable figures, including the Qara-Khitai elites, the Atabegs of Yazd, and Bahāʾ al-Dīn Muḥammad, the eldest son of Shams al-Dīn Muḥammad Ṣāḥib-Dīvān.
Imāmī’s poetry displays a marked inclination toward poetic craftsmanship, evident in his frequent use of riddling expressions, formal constraints, rhetorical devices, and rare Arabic vocabulary—features most prominent in his qaṣīdas. In other poetic forms, however, his language tends to be simpler and more graceful. His ghazals, in particular, stand out for their fresh diction, inventive imagery, and evocative mystical themes, generating a lyrical intensity that continues to captivate readers.
