Original Title:Khulāṣat al-Ashʿār wa Zubdat al-Afkār (Qismat-i Khurāsān)
A major Safavid-era biographical anthology documenting Persian poets, compiled over four decades by Mīr Taqī al-Dīn Kāshānī, with the present volume devoted to poets of the Khorasan region.
Mīr Taqī al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Sharaf al-Dīn ʿAlī Ḥusaynī Kāshānī—known as Mīr Tadhkira and using the pen name Dhikrī—was a poet and prose writer of the Safavid period. Over nearly forty years (976–1016 A.H.), he compiled Khulāṣat al-Ashʿār wa Zubdat al-Afkār, one of the most extensive Persian biographical anthologies (tadhkiras) of poets.
The complete work comprises an introduction in four chapters, four main sections, a conclusion, and an appendix, spanning six volumes and covering the lives and works of more than 867 poets from earlier periods to the author’s contemporaries. The concluding section alone includes biographies of 414 poets of the tenth century A.H., organized into twelve divisions, each devoted to a specific city or geographical region of Iran.
The present volume focuses exclusively on poets from the Khorasan region, offering invaluable material for the study of regional literary history in the Safavid era.
