A newly rediscovered Ismaili poetic divan from the 7th century A.H., representing one of the most significant surviving bodies of Ismaili Persian verse.
The Dīvān-i Qāʾimiyyāt consists primarily of poems composed by Ḥasan Maḥmūd Kātib, a 7th-century Persian poet affiliated with the Ismaili tradition. The discovery and publication of this divan represent a major literary event in Iranian and Persian literary studies. Within the corpus of Ismaili poetry, it stands as the most substantial poetic work after the divan of Nāṣir-i Khusraw.
Beyond its literary value, the divan holds considerable importance for Ismaili studies, preserving a wide range of historical, social, political, and religious themes. The poems reflect doctrinal concepts, communal identity, and the intellectual milieu of Ismaili communities in the post-Alamut period. The present critical edition, introduced by Muḥammad-Reżā Shafīʿī Kadkanī, provides scholars with a reliable and authoritative text for the study of medieval Ismaili Persian literature.
