A critical study of the earliest Persian translations of the Qurʾān, focusing on textual history and manuscript traditions through a comparative analysis of multiple early versions.
This work investigates the origins of the earliest Persian translation of the Qurʾān and offers a detailed critical analysis of more than six early and later textual versions of the oldest Persian Qurʾānic translation.
For this study, the editor has selected the Persian translation of Sūrat Yūsuf as a representative case and presents a new critical edition based on six different recensions dating from the 4th to the 6th centuries A.H.
Throughout the volume, major issues of textual criticism are examined, and new methodological insights into manuscript comparison and critical editing are proposed, making this book an important contribution to the study of Persian Qurʾānic literature and textual scholarship.
