【Summary】
Rashīd al-Dīn Faḍl Allāh Hamadānī was a distinguished physician, scholar, and historian active during the reigns of Ghāzān Khān and Öljaitü. Although this section of the Jāmiʿ al-Tavārīkh was not authored directly by him, it was compiled by a team of scholars and translators working under his supervision. Commissioned by Öljaitü, the Jāmiʿ al-Tavārīkh was conceived as a universal history and completed after nearly 50 years of collective effort.
This volume is devoted to the history of India, Sind, and Kashmir and represents one of the earliest Persian attempts to present a systematic historical account of South Asia. Alongside political history, the work reflects Rashīd al-Dīn’s broader intellectual project, which also encompassed religious sciences, medicine, and principles of governance.
