【Summary】
This volume contains 170 historical documents, including royal decrees and official correspondence, related to the Carmelite missionaries who came to Iran during the reign of Shah ʿAbbās I. These missionaries were active mainly in trade and, at the same time, in the propagation of Christianity. The collection is especially valuable because it provides detailed information on Safavid–Christian relations that cannot be fully reconstructed even from European travel accounts alone. As a result, the book offers rare insight into diplomatic, commercial, and religious interactions between the Safavid state and Christian groups.
