【Summary】

The author of Tārīkh-i Rashīdī was a Chagatai Mongol prince who combined political experience with literary and scholarly interests. The work is divided into two main parts. The first, known as Tārīkh-i Aṣl, narrates the history of the Moghul khans from Tughluq Tīmūr to ʿAbd al-Rashīd Sulṭān. The second part, called Mukhtaṣar, covers the history of the Uzbeks, Bābur, Sulṭān Saʿīd Khān, and ʿAbd al-Rashīd Sulṭān, as well as events in Tibet and Kashmir. Many of these events were either witnessed directly by the author or reported to him by trustworthy informants, making the work a key source for Central Asian history.
