【Summary】

Ishrāq Hayākil al-Nūr li-Kashf Ẓulumāt Shawākil al-Ghurūr is one of the philosophical works of Ghiyāth al-Dīn Manṣūr Dashtakī, one of the leading representatives of the Shiraz school of philosophy. The book is a commentary on Hayākil al-Nūr, one of the principal works of Shihāb al-Dīn al-Suhrawardī (549–587 A.H.), the founder of the Illuminationist (Ishrāqī) school of philosophy.

Dashtakī composed this work at the age of eighteen in only seven days as a critical response to Jalāl al-Dīn Dawānī’s celebrated commentary Shawākil al-Ḥūr. The work occupies an important place in the intellectual debates of the Shiraz philosophical tradition and reflects the vibrant development of Illuminationist philosophy during the Timurid period.
