【Summary】

This volume presents two poetic texts devoted to calligraphy and calligraphers of Transoxiana during the late Manghit period of Bukhara, both composed during the reign of Sayyid Amīr ʿĀlim Muḥammad Khān (r. 1329–1339 A.H.), the last Manghit ruler of Bukhara.

The first text, Tadhkirat al-Khaṭṭāṭīn, was composed in 1336 A.H. by Rājī Bukhārāʾī and provides valuable biographical information on contemporary calligraphers of Bukhara. The second work, Majmūʿat al-Kātibīn, was versified in 1329 A.H. by Qārī Fatḥ-Allāh Chap-Dast and likewise documents figures active in the calligraphic milieu of the region.

Beyond their documentary value, a particularly significant section of Tadhkirat al-Khaṭṭāṭīn is devoted to the instruction of the nastaʿlīq script. This portion offers rare insight into pedagogical methods, terminology for individual letters, and naming conventions for letter combinations, rendering the text an important source for the history of calligraphic education in Central Asia.
