Since Greek antiquity, the trisection of an angle has been one of the central problems of mathematics, addressed through various geometric and numerical approaches. Mīrzā Abū Turāb Naṭanzī, a mathematician of the Qajar period, is among the scholars who—after Ghiyāth al-Dīn Jamshīd Kāshānī—pursued a numerical method for solving the problem of angle trisection.

In this treatise, Naṭanzī discusses the solution of cubic equations and outlines several established methods before introducing his own innovative approach. His method presents a procedure for trisecting an arc with a known chord without employing a cubic equation, distinguishing this work within the tradition of Islamic and Persian mathematics.
