【Summary】

The manuscript of the Persian Qurʾanic translation preserved in the Shahcheragh Museum is among the valuable early Persian translations of the Qurʾan and contains a rich repertoire of elegant Persian vocabulary and expressions. The manuscript includes approximately twenty-three juzʾ of an ancient Qurʾanic translation.
Due to lacunae at the beginning and end of the codex, the identity of the translator, scribe, and exact date of transcription remain unknown. Paleographical and codicological evidence suggests that the manuscript dates from between the seventh and ninth centuries A.H. However, the translation itself—written in Transoxanian Persian—was almost certainly copied from a much earlier Persian Qurʾanic translation, likely originating in the fifth century A.H.
