【Summary】
Munshaʾāt-i Khān Aḥmad Gīlānī is one of the most valuable documentary collections from the Safavid-era Gilan. Comprising letters and official decrees with social, cultural, economic, and artistic content, the work constitutes an essential archival source for the final phase of the rule of the Kiyāʾī amirs.
The critical edition is based on the most comprehensive surviving manuscript, preserved under no. 9596 in the Central Library of the Astan Quds Razavi. This recently identified manuscript is the closest extant copy to the lifetime of Khān Aḥmad and sheds new light on previously obscure aspects of Gilan’s history during the Safavid period.
