【Summary】
Khulāṣat al-Ashʿār va Zubdat al-Afkār is one of the most comprehensive Persian tazkiras produced during the Safavid period. Its compiler, Mīr Taqī al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Sharaf al-Dīn ʿAlī Ḥusaynī Kāshānī—known as “Mīr-Tazkira” and using the pen name Zikrī—devoted nearly forty years (976–1016 A.H.) to the collection of this monumental work.
The complete anthology consists of a preface in four chapters, four principal sections, a conclusion, and a supplement, forming a six-volume corpus that records the biographies of more than 867 poets from early periods through the author’s contemporaries. The conclusion alone contains accounts of 414 poets of the 10th century A.H., organized into twelve regional divisions.
The present volume is dedicated to poets from Shiraz and its surrounding regions, an area of exceptional importance in the history of Persian literature. It preserves valuable biographical, literary, and geographical data and serves as a key source for studying regional literary culture and networks in Safavid Iran.
