【Summary】
Khulāṣat al-Ashʿār va Zubdat al-Afkār is one of the most extensive Persian tazkiras of the Safavid period. Its compiler, Mīr Taqī al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Sharaf al-Dīn ʿAlī Ḥusaynī Kāshānī, known as “Mīr-Tazkira” and using the pen name Zikrī, worked on the collection for nearly forty years, from 976 to 1016 A.H.
The complete work is organized into a preface in four chapters, four main sections, a conclusion, and a supplement, originally comprising six volumes and covering the biographies of more than 867 poets from earlier periods up to the author’s contemporaries. The conclusion alone contains accounts of 414 poets of the 10th century A.H., arranged into twelve regional divisions.
The present volume is devoted specifically to poets from the regions of Qom and Saveh, preserving valuable biographical, literary, and geographical information. As such, it represents an important source for the study of regional literary networks and the cultural geography of Safavid Iran.
