【Summary】
Manjīk of Tirmidh was a Persian poet of the fourth century A.H., active primarily as a court panegyrist for the rulers of Chaghāniyān. Among those he praised were Abū al-Muẓaffar Aḥmad Chaghānī and Ṭāhir ibn Faḍl Chaghānī. Renowned for his skill in composing qaṣīdas, Manjīk’s poetry largely centers on praise and satire.
No complete manuscript of Manjīk’s divan has survived. Only scattered verses preserved in later sources—such as biographical dictionaries, lexicons, poetic anthologies, and works of rhetoric—remain. This volume assembles and critically edits these dispersed materials, bringing together more than 400 verses.
The poems are organized into three sections: continuous passages, related but non-contiguous fragments, and isolated verses. The work provides valuable insight into early Persian court poetry and contributes significantly to the reconstruction of the poetic heritage of the Samanid-era cultural sphere.
