【Summary】

Naṣīr al-Dīn Ṭūsī was not merely a scientist, astronomer, and mathematician, but a philosopher who developed a comprehensive and evolving philosophical system encompassing both theoretical and scientific dimensions. His intellectual position may be compared to that of earlier Islamic philosophers such as al-Kindī, al-Fārābī, and Ibn Sīnā.

Following Abū Ḥāmid al-Ghazālī, Islamic philosophy entered a period characterized by two major intellectual currents. One current aligned itself with Ghazālī, promoting a concealed philosophical approach subordinated to the primacy of religious law; its most prominent representative was Fakhr al-Dīn al-Rāzī. The other current engaged openly in philosophical inquiry while remaining committed to religious scholarship, and its most distinguished representative was Naṣīr al-Dīn Ṭūsī.

This study demonstrates that the intellectual conflict between philosophers and theologians did not end with Tahāfut al-Falāsifa, but rather continued in a more complex and productive form through the works of Ṭūsī, whose synthesis of philosophy and kalām shaped later Islamic intellectual traditions.
