A Persian historical work by Ḥāfiẓ Abrū, documenting the political history of the Kartid dynasty, which ruled eastern Iran for about 140 years. The book provides important complementary information on the later period and decline of the Kartids.
Ḥāfiẓ Abrū was one of the most prolific historians of the 9th century A.H. and spent much of his life in the service of Tīmūr Gurkānī and his son Shāhrukh. Although his exact birth year is unknown, most sources place his death around 833–834 A.H.
Tārīkh-i Salāṭīn-i Kart is one of his surviving works and focuses on the Kartid dynasty, which ruled eastern Iran from 643 to 783 A.H., with Kandahar as its capital. Since Persian historical sources on this dynasty are very limited—most notably confined to Tārīkh-nāma-yi Harāt—this work is of particular importance. It offers valuable additional information, especially regarding the final years and downfall of the Kartids, and serves as a key complement to earlier accounts.
