A Persian poetry collection by Fahmī Astarābādī, a 10th-century A.H. poet best known for his mystical and love-themed tarkīb-bands. His work represents an important stage in the development of the vūqūʿ style in Persian poetry.
Fahmī Astarābādī was a gifted Persian poet of the 10th century A.H., although little reliable biographical information about his life has survived. His approximate dates can be inferred mainly from internal evidence in his poetry.
While Fahmī composed poems in various classical forms, his greatest achievement lies in his beautifully crafted mystical and romantic tarkīb-bands. These compositions later influenced the development of lyrical Persian poetry, particularly ghazals written in the voqhu’ style, as well as the celebrated tarkīb-bands of poets such as Hātif Iṣfahānī and Vaḥshī Bāfqī.
