【Summary】
Al-Yamīnī is a major Arabic chronicle devoted primarily to the reign of Sabuktigīn, founder of the Ghaznavid dynasty, and his son Sultan Maḥmūd of Ghazna. The work also contains references to the subsequent rule of Maḥmūd’s sons, Sultan Muḥammad and Sultan Masʿūd.
Beyond its political narrative, the text preserves a wealth of literary and historical information and is regarded as one of the most important primary sources for Ghaznavid history. The book is organized into four sections: the author’s introduction; the account of Abū Manṣūr Sabuktigīn; the events of Sultan Yamīn al-Dawlah Maḥmūd’s reign; and a concluding section on Abū al-Ḥasan Baghawī.
This critical edition is based on five manuscript copies preserved in Iran and abroad and is accompanied by a scholarly introduction and detailed indexes.
