Original Title: Ḵhulāṣat al-Ashʿār va Zubdat al-Afkār (Isfahān)
A Persian biographical anthology by Mīr Taqī al-Dīn Kāshānī, documenting poets from earlier periods to the author’s own time, with this volume focusing specifically on poets associated with Isfahan.
Ḵhulāṣat al-Ashʿār va Zubdat al-Afkār is a large-scale biographical work covering approximately 650 poets from earlier generations up to the author’s contemporaries.
The final section of the work presents biographies of 385 poets from the 10th century A.H., arranged according to a symbolic structure based on 12 principles corresponding to the zodiac signs. Each “sign,” according to the author, represents a specific geographical region of Iran, beginning with Kashan and ending in Khurasan.
This volume is devoted to poets associated with Isfahan and provides valuable insight into the city’s literary life, poetic networks, and regional identity in late medieval Iran.
