A Persian poetic account of the Iranian campaigns in the Persian Gulf, narrating the conquest of Qeshm and Hormuz and the decline of Portuguese power in the region during the early 11th century A.H.
This volume contains two poetic works: Jangnāmah-yi Kishm and Jarūn-nāmah, composed between 1032 and 1042 A.H. Jangnāmah-yi Kishm, written by an anonymous poet, offers a verse narrative of the Iranian conquest of the island of Qeshm. Jarūn-nāmah, also known as the Story of Jarun and composed by Qadrī, presents a more detailed account of the military campaigns against Hormuz and its eventual capture.
Together, these poems provide valuable historical information on political and economic developments in the Persian Gulf during the 11th century A.H., marking the end of Portuguese dominance in Hormuz and the beginning of increased European involvement in regional maritime routes.
